Jl·a i l to t.he J1ictors ...
After an absence of more than one ye.ar, championship
Jackets nrc again making their appearance on this campus
worn bv those m~ who brought the college its first unshnrcd • basketball title in history.
It \\ asn'l easy, the way they won the crown. In !net, 1t took
0 thrilling 69-63 \'ictory over \Villamctte lnsl Salurdny in the
conference £male to eaxn it. It's the plucky way they bounced
bad< nfteJ.' J<l'i.dav's loss that makes us salute them ns true -champs.
RJ\•aJ conference coaches point'->d their pre-season fingers
at Eldon Fix's P1oneers, putting the pressure on them all
the way. Perhaps that pressure was a factor 1n lhc two los~es
to College of Idaho with \\'hith the Fixmcn opened the con
ferent~e season. At nny rate, the club showed the class and
ability necessa~ to come from behind and wind up m front.
The de' clopme.nt of that ability to bounce back is one of
the real obJect lessons of athletics. And, because we know the
members of the LC team and lrnow they arc U1at type of men,
we have maintained conf1dence in their winding up on top
m the futnl standings all along.
We see the members of the c:lub proudly sportmg the•r new • kn . Jackets around campus and we wnnt th1s own-we rc
proud to hnve such champions wear them.

RJ\•aJ conference coaches point'->d their pre-season fingers
at Eldon Fix's P1oneers, putting the pressure on them all
