fuJI renhzallon nt the Christmas season.
We had not realized full' how marvelous n
Lew:lS and Clark Chr.ist:mas is until we heard
the enthustnstic comments of Dr. Blair Hol
comb, father of the current president of our
Assocmted Women Students. Dr. Holcomb
wns present for the traditional ''Hangmg of
the Greens'' in the Campus U1enter on the
last day of school. G1rls of the Home Econom
ICS club hnd prepared gnrlnnds which nt a

The program closed w1th stage presenta

as the whole famil)• ccleb~ated the JOY and

councll here. an actual count of those "mtc.r
csted 'students who sat m on the last council
meeung Tuesday showed only one present,
and that one was the editor of the LOG.
We take this to mean that our point is prov
en; that the students of this mstttuho.n w1th
"cry slight exception. do not care what goes
on nt councll meetings and, if they did know,
\\ ould not do anyU1ing about jL. \1le, of course,
are happy in feeling that our position hns
oeen vmdicated.
But we are, :at the same time. unhappy thnt
the student mt.ere..c:t on this campus is so lax
thnt open meetings of the student counCil are
unattended and httle or no constructi\'e cntl
CJsm pertmrung to the operation of student
go\ ernment ever seems to issue from the stu-
dents at large. •
Whate\•er improvements are made are
made bv the council and whatever actions the -council takes are accepted and put into prac-
tice w1thout question though usually with
moaning and groaning from that segment of
the student body which is foremost m cry:ing
for reform m student goverJlment without
knowmg .. ~:hy or, for that matter, even whnl
student government on this campus is actual
ly accomplishing or how it works.
The LOG has heard enough of these moans
nnd can only say to the moaners , ''Put up or
shut up." Until some sort of positive actlon or
suggesuo n is made from the ranl-.s of the stu-PION&&R LOG

light wllh the lights shimng !rom behind nnd
throwing p1cturcs out on the college campus.
Carolers, of course, made U1e1r appearance
on the last evening of school, singing at the
cnmpus homes and returning to U1c dorms for
hot chocolate nnd cake prepared by the head
:t sidents.
But most f1ttmg was the thought taken of
the need of others. Students ond teachers

nnd a glory m such :fellow:ship whtch comes to
fuJI renhzallon nt the Christmas season.
We had not realized full' how marvelous n
Lew:lS and Clark Chr.ist:mas is until we heard
the enthustnstic comments of Dr. Blair Hol
comb, father of the current president of our
Assocmted Women Students. Dr. Holcomb
wns present for the traditional ''Hangmg of
the Greens'' in the Campus U1enter on the
last day of school. G1rls of the Home Econom
ICS club hnd prepared gnrlnnds which nt a

The program closed w1th stage presenta
tions of Christmas scenes and music bv the p
soCial and dormitory organizations. The col
legt.: had come alh,e again 3S a spiritual being
as the whole famil)• ccleb~ated the JOY and

councll here. an actual count of those "mtc.r
csted 'students who sat m on the last council
meeung Tuesday showed only one present,
and that one was the editor of the LOG.
We take this to mean that our point is prov
en; that the students of this mstttuho.n w1th
"cry slight exception. do not care what goes
on nt councll meetings and, if they did know,
\\ ould not do anyU1ing about jL. \1le, of course,
are happy in feeling that our position hns
oeen vmdicated.
But we are, :at the same time. unhappy thnt
the student mt.ere..c:t on this campus is so lax
thnt open meetings of the student counCil are
unattended and httle or no constructi\'e cntl
CJsm pertmrung to the operation of student
go\ ernment ever seems to issue from the stu-
dents at large. •
Whate\•er improvements are made are
made bv the council and whatever actions the -council takes are accepted and put into prac-

moaning and groaning from that segment of
the student body which is foremost m cry:ing
for reform m student goverJlment without
knowmg .. ~:hy or, for that matter, even whnl
student government on this campus is actual
ly accomplishing or how it works.
The LOG has heard enough of these moans
nnd can only say to the moaners , ''Put up or
shut up." Until some sort of positive actlon or

throwing p1cturcs out on the college campus.
