a copy boy for NBC news. and advanced
to JObs m production , editing and writing.
He later worked as a reporter and anchor­
man for radao and television He is co­
founder of International Media Serv1ce, a
news service for Christ1an radio, which 1s
now heard in 39 states. He 1s the author of
three books, Target Group Evangelism , A
Freedom Dream and Public Persons and
Pnvate Lives. He has been cited for excel­
lence in reporting by Associated Press,
United Press International, Headliners
and the George Foster Peabody Awards
committees . On Sunday, February 14, Maryland
Senator Paul Sarbanes w1ll speak on the
political implications of Moral Majority.
The son of Greek imm1grants Spyros and
Matina Sarbanes , he IS a graduate of Prin­
ceton University , Oxford University and
Harvard Law School. He practtced law 1n
Maryland 1n the 1960s and was elected to
the first of three terms 1n the House of
Representatives 1n 1970. Since his elec­
tion to the Senate in 1976, he has served
on Foreign Relations , Banking, Housing
and Urban Affairs and Joint Economic
committees . Tom Riley is the leader of a new and
liberal organization . The Immoral Minor­
ity, a group formed primarily in opposi­
tion to the widespread Moral Majority, is
presently a rapidly growing group of
interested individuals. Though the name
and motto of Riley's group certatnly intro­
duce an air of humor to the organization.
(the motto is "Divided We Rot-United
We Ferment") he maintains that they are
indeed quite serious in their beliefs and
goals. Riley says of his membership that
"they are not interested in having some­
one else dictate morality to them." He
asserts that "the purpose and objectives
of the Immoral Mlnortity are to provide
continued separation of church and
state, de'fend individual liberties and free
doms. and to advocate the enjoyment of
life." lewis and Clark students would be
well advised not to miss Riley's interest­
ing perspective on the controversial
Moral Majority. Thomas writes and broadcasts with
Jerry Falwell. head of Moral Majority, a
daily commentary for the organization
that airs nationally .

former President Nixon, writing the "Sar­
banes article" accusing Nixon of covering
up the Watergate scandal that was later
