Few will deny the difference between a fragrant, sunny,
blossom-laden, sprmg-kissed campus nnd a drab concrete
gymnaSJum. Regardless of heroic efforts nt gay decoration
the gymnasium stlll :resembles a gymnasium.
Three out of the past iour years unfavorable weather ha~
forced t.he welcome to spring indoors and the canccil3llon of
some e\'ents on the schedule.
According to t.he hoary cliche, c\·eryonc talks about the
wcalhE;r but no one does anything about Jt. We propose doing
sometming about it-conforming to ils vagaries.
Rather than gamble on what has proven three out of four
time-to be an unsettled t1me of y~ar, let's break tradition and
set May Day m step with the weather, if not with the calendar.
May Day t'"'O weeks later in May would no doubt dri,·e
those who plan the soc1al schedule mto ne'"' frenzies of dis
traction. Some w·Hl say 1t's too ncar the ~nd of the year; it
1\'ill conflict with term papers, studymg for finals, etc., ad
mfiniturn.
We say wel<.-ome Mny when .May weather smiles on a
blooming campus.

We say wel<.-ome Mny when .May weather smiles on a
blooming campus.
