specific proposals should carefully be con~idered for
their possible relevance to LC.
Preprofe~sional training belies the concept that
there is no one particular means of gaining under­
standing and perspective. Knowledge is not static or
universal ; It is complex. changing , and in a perpetual
state ol r1ux. That is why LC was wise in reaffirming
its commitment to liberal arts education in theM iss ion
Planning process of several years ago. tudcnts can
only be prepared for a wide range of situations if they
