-By what means, you ask? Caley Cook or Betty J\!nn

And so do wo. Who hnsn't hermJ of the old sore spot
in Amenca-racJ<u di~crimmatit~n? Thnl ~erm isn'l ap
plicable to the South, it's here nml Wt! all have wmc
realization of it.
Some time ago, some college students in California
formulated a plan. With a conc~rlc:d effort they con
vinced other students around them that their plan o!
fered n reasonable solution to at least port of the prob
lem. Soon after, the united action or ·lhc stutlent body
convinced a majority of the community that action was
paramount. The flame spread. the spiril of a common • goal em·elop€d the wholt? community, and as a rusult,
th~ problEmaticul .ituation was whipped.
That WG.l> the "Fair Bear" plan ot the Unh•ersity of
CahfornHl The1r success has encou•·aged many other
regions of the Unit~d States to undertake n similar plan.
That is how w~ hu\'e on opportunity. It is the plan
adopted by oul' student council, the "l"air Rose'' plan.
But lest \\'fl forget ... we must diagnose the :tilment
before we heat it. Each of us has thal responsibility.
Each must make his own dingnosi s, nnd tht n rind out if
his diagnosis correspondes with that of his neighbor .'

Last spring after much fanfare. !\tudcnt interest nnd
grand oratorical eloquence Lewis :md Clark '·oters went to
the polls and elected from their own group men and women
to represent tht•m under the name Student CounciL
Now, active student participation in their governml'nt
has come to an absolute stnndstill. Students ne\~er come to
-~ what is going on but then! are always somt! who complain
after an action is taken.
The student counc1J meets ever · Tuesday at noon in G-22
and is always an open mt!cting. The room is large. 1t should
be e\'en• student's dutv to se.a that that room is filled.

Some time ago, some college students in California
formulated a plan. With a conc~rlc:d effort they con
vinced other students around them that their plan o!
fered n reasonable solution to at least port of the prob

convinced a majority of the community that action was
paramount. The flame spread. the spiril of a common • goal em·elop€d the wholt? community, and as a rusult,
th~ problEmaticul .ituation was whipped.
That WG.l> the "Fair Bear" plan ot the Unh•ersity of

But lest \\'fl forget ... we must diagnose the :tilment
